How is TGF-beta1-induced EMT related to invasion and metastatis of ESCC?

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a foundation of embryo development, tissue rebuilding and wound repair; in addition, it is an important mechanism of tumor invasion and metastasis. Dr. Shan-Shan Li and her group from Zhengzhou University found TGF- beta 1 over-expression may have correlation with EMT which made the mobility and invasion ability of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma more powerful.
