Can enteritis be induced by the infection of human cytomegalovirus?

It is reported that the infection of cytomegalovirus can induce gastrointestinal diseases, which can not be diagnosed correctly and treated effectively. Based on pathogenic mechanism of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection, doctor Rui-Ping Li, Professor Ming-Li Wang et al from Anhui Province, China, established the model of enteritis induced by reactivation of congenital latent infection of HCMV in aged mice, and further confrimed the obvious pathological damages in intestines.
