A study based on the Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events shows that in China and Chinese-speaking areas, a simple, individualized risk score model can accurately and quantitatively predict in-hospital deaths or recurrent myocardial infarctions. Patients undergoing revascularization with risk scores greater than 5.5 appear more likely for preventing hospital deaths or recurrent myocardial infarctions. This method not only helps doctors screen high-risk patients, evaluate prognoses and select the most effective treatment, but it also gives patients and their family members a virtual “road map” of the disease. This study was published in the July 8 issue of the National Medical Journal of China.
