Caption: A steelhead trout is anesthetized for tissue sampling at the dam trap in the Hood River, Oregon. Parents of this fish had returned less than 5 years earlier. Tissue samples were collected and a DNA parentage analysis determined the parents pedigree for evaluating adult-to-adult reproductive success. This fish was immediately released above the dam to spawn in the wild.
