Researchers develop an infrared camera that detects one of the main causes of acid rain
A spin-off of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), SENSIA Solutions, has developed the first infrared camera for detecting sulfur dioxide (SO2), a gas that is considered one of the greatest causes of the acid rain generated by the energy, metallurgy, food and paper manufacturing sectors.

4th Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting to be led by region’s leading bone experts
Clinicians and researchers are invited to attend Asia-Pacific’s key clinical bone event in 2013. The 4th Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting, organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) in cooperation with the Hong Kong Osteoporosis Foundation and the Osteoporosis Society of Hong Kong, will take place on December 12-15, 2013 in Hong Kong.
Abstracts will be published in the journal Osteoporosis International.

Marinda Li Wu becomes 2013 President of World’s Largest Scientific Society
Marinda Li Wu, who resides near Berkeley, Calif., is the 2013 president of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the world’s largest scientific society. She is the first Asian American and only the eighth woman to serve as president in the Society’s 137-year history.
